We are sorry to hear about your child's aphasia. We have found several important issue to address:
- Consultation and assistance with the child's interaction with his/her school system and school-based SLP. Usually, a school district does not have the background, tools or expertise to deal with childhood, acquired aphasia.
- Effective treatment and practice tools that are specifically designed for a younger person with aphasia. As you know there are critical differences between developmental communication disorders and acquired aphasia and its related disorders.
- There is great value in children with aphasia interacting with other children who have similar experiences.
