Who is Grossman?

Dr. Kenneth Grossman is a Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist specializing in helping people make positive changes in their lives through hypnosis, and he maintains a private practice in Sacramento, California.

o

For more than 15 years Dr. Grossman was the Director of the Hypnotism Training Institute of Chicago. He was an adjunct professor at Moraine College near Chicago teaching hypnosis and has lectured at many Chicago area colleges. He conducted well over 2,000 hypnosis-related seminars in the United States and around the world. He continues to conduct many international seminars, especially in South America, using a unique simultaneous translation technique which he developed.

Dr. Ken grew up on the South Side of Chicago. He was the 4th of 12 children. His mother was a nurse and his father sold reference books to universities and libraries. Dr. Ken skipped 8th grade and entered the seminary to study for the priesthood at the age of 12. He lived a monastic life for 3 years till his senior year of high school. He lived away from home for those 3 years.

"I learned a lot in the seminary. Our average class size was only 6 students and our teachers were all priests. Many of our teachers had PhD's and they had all been trained in both Paris and Rome. They traveled all over the world and had a real world point of view. Most of our teachers had been to China and other parts of Asia as missionaries. The emphasis in the seminary was on spirituality, scholastics and sports. But I knew by the time I finished my 3rd year that I didn't have a priestly vocation. I had seen a beautiful girl at a basketball game one day and intuitively knew that celibacy just wasn't right...not right for me anyway" Grossman said.

Dr. Ken graduated from high school at age 16 and volunteered for the United States Air Force...just 2 days after his seventeenth birthday. He was discharged as Staff Sergeant with a wife, a baby and almost 3 years of college credits by the time he was 21. After the Air Force, and years before he was involved in the profession of hypnotherapy, Dr. Ken started and built businesses. He employed many young men and women who had served in the armed forces. Because the Viet Nam war was in full swing at that time, many of the men and women he employed were recently discharged Viet Nam veterans. By the time Dr. Ken was 25 years old he owned 7 businesses and had over 100 young men and women working for him.

He felt that one of the most challenging, yet rewarding aspects of his position as CEO of his growing organization was counseling his employees. Many employees opened up to him about their personal problems. He knew that if his employees did better in their personal lives they would also do better on their jobs, so he did all he could to listen and help them, but often he felt unqualified to assist. He knew he needed more education.

So in spite of the fact that he owned and managed 7 businesses and had a wife and children, he returned to college at night to take courses in the behavioral sciences, especially psychology, to help him to better understand human nature. In one such course he discovered the tremendous value of hypnosis. He was immediately hooked on its benefits.

Because of his passion for hypnotism he later sold his businesses to his employees on the monthly payment plan. He sold his house, packed up his family and moved from Denver to Omaha, Nebraska and later to Chicago where he attended school at the University of Chicago. He completed his education while he devoted full time to the profession of hypnotherapy. He has now been a Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist for over 30 years.

He has hypnotized hundreds of thousand people in the United States and around the world. He has written and recorded many top selling personal growth and development programs. He’s been listed in “Marquis Who’s Who in the World” for his achievements. His undergraduate work was done at the University of Chicago and the University of Nebraska at Omaha and he received his doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy.

He earned a Harvard University Medical School Certificate in Lifestyle Medicine for Weight Loss Management and he earned a Certificate from Cornell University in Plant-Based Nutrition.

He studied hypnotism with the leading teachers both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. He trained at the UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts and Sciences in London. He received his International Certified Instructor Certificate in Hypnotherapy from the National Guild of Hypnotists and earned his doctorate at the American Institute of Hypnotherapy.

He has always had a passion for sailing and feels very at home on the ocean. He has sailed many tens of thousands of miles. He is a United States Coast Guard Captain with a 100 Ton Masters License.

He is a graduate of the Annapolis School of Seamanship and a graduate of the Chapman School of Seamanship. He has sailed on the Great Lakes, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Intercostal Waterway, the Gulf of Mexico, the Bahamas, most of the Caribbean Islands, Cuba, the coast of South America, the Hawaiian Islands and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. He is also a both a NAUI and PADI certified SCUBA diver with hundreds of open ocean dives. He holds an Amateur Radio License with call sign KG4ISX. He has an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, having served for 4 years during the Viet Nam era. He has a passion for both golf and fly fishing.

He believes in living life to the fullest and his wanderlust has taken him all over the world. During one exploration he had the opportunity to spend several months living amongst the Kuna Indians, the last indigenous people of the Caribbean who inhabit the San Blas Islands of Panama. While there he was one of the few outsiders to ever attend a Kuna puberty ritual ceremony as the guest of a Kuna chief. He was privileged to be able to visit with many of the Kuna shaman throughout the San Blas Islands. They allowed him to study their primitive healing techniques first hand. What an amazing experience!

Dr. Grossman devoted many years of practice to the martial arts. During the past 40 years he's studied Taekwondo, Judo, Hapkido, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Zhan Zhuang. He learned Qi Gong from a Kung Fu sufi and learned Shibashi Qi Gong from a world renown Buddhist monk. He is a Certified Senior Fitness Trainer. Click here to view a short video about QiGong.

In this regard, they founded the Military Combat Stress Relief Foundation, Inc, a non-profit 501(c) 3 foundation which provides PTSD programs for our troops who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. www.MilitaryStress.org.

"The Kuna Indians in Panama are the second shortest race in the world next to the African pygmies. The women in the above photo are the first Kuna we met after sailing from the Rosario Islands in Colombia...about 125 miles away to Panama. These women spoke no English and had not seen an outsider for many months. Luckily we knew many Kuna words from a guidebook that we found months before and could easily communicate with them. They are a fascinating people. They are very intelligent people where women control the property."
