  • Julie Bowen LCSW, CTS, CSAC
    Director of Therapy and Services

    Julie Marie Bowen holds an LCSW. She is a Certified Trauma Specialist and works with children and adults to help in the healing process from traumatic experiences.  She earned her certification as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and has experience working with teenagers and adults working through the addiction and recovery process. She has practical experience working with children, teens, and adults suffering from depression, anxiety, bullying, anger management, social skills, military families, blended families, substance abuse, trauma, ADHD, and developmental and intellectual disabilities. She is a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and an Autplay Therapist. AutPlay is a type of play therapy that benefits children with Autism as well as developmental, learning, social, and impulsive-control disorders. She is a mother of four and a proud military wife.   

  • Sheree Cumberbatch M.A. Resident in Marriage and Family Therapy
    Therapist

    Sheree is a graduate of Regent University with her Master of Art in Marriage, Family, & Couples Therapy and is currently seeking Licensure. Sheree understands how culture, gender, experience, and personal relationships shape our identities. She is passionate about empowering couples, families and individuals to overcome personal obstacles, improve their relationships,and restore families to their natural, healthiest state. She remains passionate by being genuine and offering unconditional positive regard as clients pursue a greater understanding of self. Her approach to therapy is integrative of Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Using evidenced-based interventions, she offers relationship and family counseling, and individual counseling for anxiety, depression and relationship issues.

    She understands the importance of optimal living and is a firm believer of self-care. She enjoys walks on the beach and spending time with her daughter.

    Sheree specializes in working with couples, families, and individuals.

  • Paula Welsh
    President

    Paula Welsh has been the President of Hope Therapy and Wellness Center since 2018. Ms Welsh is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She has worked in the mental health industry for 25+ years. For the last 19 years, she has had various management positions supporting with persons with disabilities. She has four adult children and delights in her 3 grandchildren, ages 1, 2, and 3. Paula loves traveling, wine, reading, and loves all things related to Harry Potter and Marvel.

  • Sofia Shahid MS Resident in Counseling
    Therapist

    Sofia Shahid received her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling From Bay Path University in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She enjoys and is passionate about helping individuals and their families overcome their obstacles and reach their best potential self by motivation, positive self talk, communication, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical therapy, narrative, role play etc.  Sofia works with adults, teens and children of all ages that struggle with anxiety, depression, self esteem, anger management, identifying emotions, trauma and PTSD, sexuality and identity issues and other related mental health issues. In her free time, Sofia enjoys learning new games, playing with her dogs and traveling.  

  • Melannieann Michaudm MSW, LMSW, Supervisee in Social Work
    Therapist

    Melannieann Michaud received her master’s degree in Social Work from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.  Melannieann understands each individual is unique and special, and emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist and creating a safe environment to discuss all topics.  She is committed to helping individuals create personal goals all while building confidence, acceptance, and self-determination.   She specializes in problem-solving, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-esteem issues, spirituality, sexuality and identity issues.  She utilizes several modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness, Talk Therapy, and Narrative Therapy.  Melannieann is a U.S. Army Veteran and is passionate about working with active duty personnel, family members, veterans, and retired military.  She is an advocate in mental health and suicide awarness within the community.  Melannieann understands the importance of self-care especially during these unprecedented times.  She enjoys the outdoors like camping and hiking mountains in her free time. 

  • Belinda Laryea
    Intern

    Belinda Laryea is pursuing a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University and currently interning at HOPE Therapy and Wellness Center. Belinda has over fourteen years of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and now serves as the Vice President of a company with twenty residential group homes for adults with intellectual disabilities. She enjoys working collaboratively with diverse groups of people and agencies, including local State agencies, Community Service Boards (CSBs), schools, medical teams, families, and other service providers to identify and resolve challenging issues and meet specific goals. Belinda possesses excellent listening skills, an understanding of the importance of empathetic listening, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard for all clients. As a future therapist interested in Solution-focused therapy, Belinda seeks to work collaboratively with clients to better understand their potential and identify solutions that will address challenges in their life. Belinda loves to dance, go for early morning walks, and video chat with her family.
