Dr. Karen Loaiza earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Saint Louis University in 2009. She then worked at the St. Louis VA Medical Center from 2009-2021 in the PTSD Clinic with a specialty in assessment and treatment of veterans with PTSD and Substance use. She made the career choice to shift to a full-time private practice for increased balance in work and family life as well as to share evidence-based treatment to the broader community.
She has received comprehensive training in several evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Dr. Loaiza integrates skills from these interventions to individualize treatment in addressing a range of conditions.
In addition to therapy services, Dr. Loaiza has also enjoyed serving as an educator of best therapy practices to other mental health professionals. She has served as a guest instructor for Washington University and had the pleasure of conducting an international continuing education training on evidence-based care for trauma.
