John A. Jacobs, Ph.D.

I earned my MA in general experimental psychology from Southern Methodist University in1976, and my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of North Texas in1981. My internship was at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital and Veterans Administration Medical Center both in Charleston, South Carolina.My clinical practice as a licensed psychologist includes over 20 years working as an individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapist in both inpatient and outpatient settings. 

Between1982 and 2003 I developed one of the largest group psychology practices in Collin County. After retiring in 2003 from my fee for service practice and through 2017, I provided volunteer services for The American Red Cross and other charitable organizations. 

I founded Outreach Counseling in 2019

James P. Cannici, Ph.D.

I attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate and completed a PhD in Counseling and Clinical psychology from the University of North Texas in 1979. My internship was at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital and Veterans Administration Medical Center both in Charleston, South Carolina. My clinical practice as a licensed psychologist includes over 40 years working as an individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapist in both inpatient and outpatient settings. 

Before retiring in 2019, I served for 21 years as the Director of Counseling at the University of Texas at Dallas where I provided management, supervision, and training as well as direct clinical work.

Michelle Heffner Macera, Ph.D.

I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from West Virginia University in 2004. My internship was at the Veterans Administration Sierra Nevada Health Care System in Reno, Nevada, and my post-doctoral training was at Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services in Sparks, Nevada. 

I am an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Dallas, and a Licensed Psychologist in both Nevada and Texas. My clinical experience includes individual and group therapy in outpatient and residential settings

In addition to my work as a Psychologist, I was a handler for my CockerSpaniel, who was a registered “therapy dog” for five years with Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services (K-PETS) in Pennsylvania. Together, we visited group homes for adults with developmental disabilities and we listened to elementary school children in a special education program read books to us.

Charles  M. Jones, M.Ed., LPC

I earned a BA in history from North Texas State University in 1972, and an M.Ed in counseling also from North Texas State University in 1974. 

Before going into private practice in 1980, I held positions as a marriage and family therapist for the Denton County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center, a co founder of the Lewisville Family Counseling Center, and as a sponsor of and psychotherapist for the Lovers Lane Counseling Center in Dallas.  

Having received my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential in 1983, I became a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).

I have now been in private practice for over 40 years. During this time, I provided services to individuals, couples and families in both outpatient settings and inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and consulted with various corporations including UPS, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Republic Bank of Dallas, and Plano Independent School District on matters ranging from stress management to organizational relationships, and marriage and family issues. 

I  joined Outreach Counseling in 2022.
