Pricing and Insurance

At The Well BH we understand that reaching out for help from a Christian counselor can be a big step. Will I be able to find someone who can help me? What will it cost?  We want to do what we can to provide the information needed to make an informed decision.

HOW OUR PRICING STRATEGY WORKS

Counseling sessions at The Well BH typically range between $60-$140 per 50-minute session due to difference in our clinician’s experience levels and geographic considerations.

Our Tier 1 and Tier 2 clinicians are a great blend of competence, professionalism and value, while our Tier 3, 4 and 5 clinicians offer the experience that comes from being a licensed professional with a greater number of years in the field (and frequently, additional certifications and specialties as well).

  • Tier 1: Counselors under supervision ($55 - $70 per session)
  • Tier 2: Provisionally licensed counselors ($70-$90 per session)
  • Tier 3: Licensed counselors ($90-$110 per session)
  • Tier 4: Licensed counselors with advanced certifications and/or 5,000+ clinical hours ($90-125 per session)
  • Tier 5: Licensed counselors with advanced certifications and/or 10,000+ clinical hours ($100-$140 per session)

We try our best to provide low-cost Christian counseling. If you want to learn more, please feel free to reach out to one of our care coordinators by clicking here.

WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?

At this time, The Well BH does take insurance in Massachusetts but does not in other states.

Organizations that bill insurance are thrust into a medical model of treatment for the clients they serve. Insurance companies require diagnoses and may limit treatment according to their own internal criteria or authorizations. A tremendous amount of resources go into managing the relationships and billing with insurance payers. At The Well BH, we want our focus to be on client care and experience. Our care coordinators will support prospective clients in finding a good match with their clinicians, and provide assistance in the registration process. Our clinicians will have the freedom and flexibility to practice outside a more rigid medical model, and clients will receive the care and individuality that they deserve.

Additionally, we’ve all called our own insurance companies to try to set up an appointment with a counselor or medical doctor and have found that the wait to see someone is extensive, and the representative you speak with can tell you very little about the person you will be meeting with. You also may find that you are limited to a certain number of sessions to make progress towards your therapeutic goals, and there is less face-to-face time with your counselor.

If requested, we can provide an insurance superbill for your counseling appointment at the time of service that may be used to submit to your insurance company for reimbursements. Many of our clients have high deductibles which they pay out of pocket anyway and want to choose a counselor for themselves vs having the insurance company choose for them.

MORE ABOUT OUR TIER ONE AND TIER TWO CLINICIANS

At The Well BH we are committed to training and developing professional Christian counselors. We recognize that finding a Christian counselor might not be easy, so we work closely with emerging clinicians who have received their graduate degree, or are completing their graduate studies. Our Tier 4 and Tier 5 clinicians supervise all Tier 1 and Tier 2 clinicians, which includes weekly case supervision meetings and peer consultation groups. Many of our newer clinicians may be individuals who have a ministry or human services background that need additional hours towards their independent state license.
