Therapists Who Care
Many research studies indicate that most important factor in effective psychotherapy is a strong, positive relationship between the therapist and the client. Bearing this in mind, it is critical for you to find a good fit when selecting a therapist.
Each mental health professional chosen for the Transcendence team was selected due to not only excellent professional skills, but also their extraordinary level of empathy and compassion toward their clients. We truly care about are clients and are personally invested in the relationships we build with you.

I have over 16 years of therapy experience. My therapeutic approach is often person-centered, helping my clients feel "heard" and understood through acceptance, respect, warmth, trust, optimism, and humor. I often utilize cognitive behavioral therapy "CBT" to change thoughts to improve how you feel. Systematic desensitization is a therapeutic approach I like to use to address anxiety and phobias. Brief solution-focused strategies combined with breathing, relaxation, affirmations, visualization, meditation, and mindfulness are techniques for effective strategies in the here and now to bring about changes that can be made right away.
I see therapy as a safe place to: Be yourself, try new roles, make new rules, feel whatever you feel, cry, laugh, yell, play, hope, and change what you can! Personal growth is an amazing journey, and it would be a privilege to help you on your way.
NUZMEYA ELDER, PhD
Limited Licensed Professional Counselor
Growing up between two cultures taught me to empathize deeply with youth, parents, and communities facing identity conflicts, familial challenges, and feelings of inferiority. My work is dedicated to empowering individuals toward a healthy balance of interpersonal autonomy and self-advocacy, helping them embrace their unique worlds.
My doctoral research and professional experiences have shaped a framework for supporting diverse populations dealing with depression, anxiety, identity issues, trauma, self-esteem, life transitions, and, above all, family conflict. I believe in the value of human diversity and its profound impact on identity formation, especially in the context of identity/cultural conflicts and relationships, all of which influence social-emotional well-being.
I take a holistic, multifaceted approach in my practice, incorporating mindfulness, insight-oriented psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).
"My entire life has been devoted to service. I listen with what I call my '3rd ear,' a unique skill that allows me to support and advocate effectively for my students and clients. As I witness their growth, I, too, grow 'through their eyes,' developing a therapeutic alliance, instilling hope, and working collaboratively toward achievable goals."

I believe therapy is a valuable tool for anyone seeking change. Change is personal and unique to each individual, and therapy isn’t magic—it’s a collaborative process. A diagnosis and a plan are important, but equally essential is ensuring the client understands how everything fits together. Whether the work is short-term or long-term, I believe a sense of humor helps through the healing process.
I work with individuals ages 3 to 65, following the principle in social work that "you start where your client is." I believe therapy should always be interactive, regardless of age. Over my 40+ years as a social worker, I’ve helped clients with a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, chronic pain, grief, PTSD, dissociative disorder, attention deficit disorder, gender identity issues, and parenting skills.
I work closely with individuals and families to develop personalized plans that best meet their needs. While I have a special passion for working with young children, my practice has expanded over the years to include clients of all ages.
