What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of therapy that helps your brain heal from trauma.

It uses gentle bilateral stimulation — such as eye movements or tapping — to help your mind and body process painful memories without having to relive every detail.

Over time, EMDR helps those memories lose their strong emotional charge, so you can remember what happened without feeling overwhelmed or re-triggered.

Whether you choose virtual EMDR therapy in Ontario or in-person EMDR in Markham, your therapist will guide you safely through each step.

EMDR Can Help With:

  • PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

  • Childhood or complex trauma

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Depression linked to trauma

  • Phobias and fears

  • Grief and loss

  • Low self-esteem or performance anxiety

  • Addiction recovery support

What to Expect

Standard EMDR Sessions:

Each 50-minute session includes preparation, processing, and grounding time afterward.

EMDR Intensive Programs:

  • Pre-intensive consultation and preparation

  • Longer processing periods with breaks

  • Aftercare plan and follow-up support

Both approaches focus on safety, pacing, and emotional stability before, during, and after trauma work.
