Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
About Théla
What makes Théla different from other therapy practices?
At Théla, we offer trauma-informed therapy grounded in both clinical expertise and real-world system knowledge. With backgrounds in law, mental health, and community work, our team understands how immigration, legal, and workplace systems can impact well-being.
How does your legal background inform therapy at Théla?
Our legal experience gives us unique insight into the stress and trauma that systems can create. While we do not provide legal advice in therapy, this knowledge helps us validate your experiences and support you with empathy and context.
Do you work with LGBTQ2S+ clients?
Yes. We provide affirming, culturally responsive therapy for LGBTQ2S+ clients, with a focus on intersectional identity and family or cultural acceptance.
Do you work with legal professionals experiencing burnout?
Yes. We specialize in supporting lawyers, paralegals, and other legal professionals with stress, burnout, compassion fatigue, and career transitions.
Can you help with immigration-related mental health challenges?
Yes. Our team combines immigration law experience with trauma-focused training to support newcomers, refugees, and families navigating cultural transitions, system stress, and identity challenges.

Process & Logistics
How do I book my first appointment?
You can book a free 15-minute consultation through our online calendar or by emailing us directly. During this call, we’ll discuss your needs and next steps.
What should I expect in my first session?
Your first session is focused on understanding your goals, history, and cultural context. Together, we’ll develop an initial treatment plan at a pace that feels comfortable.
How do I know if Théla is the right fit for me?
The best way is to book a free consultation. This gives you the chance to ask questions, get a sense of our approach, and see if it feels like a good fit.
How do you handle confidentiality?
All sessions are confidential, except in rare legal or safety-related situations (such as risk of harm). We explain these limits clearly at the beginning of therapy.
What should I bring to my first session?
Just yourself. If you’d like, you can bring your goals, questions, or any important documents (insurance, intake forms) to help us get started.
